A tension exists within each of us, and therefore within our society, to simultaneously be different and belong, to do our own thing but maybe with those who do their own thing in a similar way, to rebel, but in a community. I have found this struggle fascinating in my own life and in the lives of those I love.
The musings on this site will, in most cases, be about how we rebel against the constructs of our world and then build new ones, about our struggles with individualism and community, faith and logic, creativity and structure, freedom and duty. I like exploring the ways in which we think we’re inventing a new paradigm only to discover it’s been done. That is, until we again realize we are unique and by doing it our own way, the paradigm is indeed new.
Personally, it’s about being a musician and engineer, it’s about being gay and coming from (and returning to) a Christ-like faith, and it’s about the system and changing it… the rebellion industry.
